I only met laura once at her cottage, when i stopped into visit her sister. But even in the few minutes i talked to her i realised how full of life she was and could tell what a great person she was. My thoughts and prayers are with the Gaineys and hopefully i can voice them this summer in person.

Laura (and the Gainey family) have always kindly given their support to charities around the Peterborough area. It was always certain that if Laura Gainey was on board for an event, it would be a success. People gravitated to her and she will be missed.
Although I never had the chance to meet her, I feel such a loss. My condolensces go out to you Bob and Family. I’ve heard such great things about her from Mike (Bob’s cousin).

I knew Laura from living in Peterborough. Big smile and loud laugh that made me giggle even on my grumpiest of days. I can’t believe this has happened.

My deepest thoughts & condolensces are with the Gainey family for your shocking & sad loss. I did not know Laura but her presence & energy transcends through the news reports & this website even in tragedy. In my opinion, she has an incredibly strong spirit that lives on, most likely sailing with her friends on the tallship or close to her family & friends on land.
She will never be forgotten.
